  • WELCOME to ST. MARY'S, FATHER DENNIS VAVREK! Fr. Dennis has been appointed as Administrator of St. Mary's Parish, Cochrane, effective August 1, 2017. May God bless Father Dennis as he assumes the leadership of our Catholic community.

  • The RETIREMENT CELEBRATION for FATHER ANDREW was held on July 22nd, following the 5 pm Mass. The parishioner-led 'GoFundMe' campaign for Father Andrew's "Retirement Journeys Fund"was a huge success! 71 contributors raised enough for Father Andrew to make his dream trip to Rome and even consider a side trip to other sites (like Assisi, or the Holy Land).   • ST. MARY’S 5TH ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT: The Knights of Columbus, Father Scollen Council # 8258, is proud to host the 5th Annual Parish Golf Tournament. It will be held on Sat., Aug. 26., 11 am, Cochrane Golf Club. $90/ player, includes 18 hole Best-Ball Tournament, power golf cart, BBQ lunch, Steak Dinner, and prizes. (Dinner only, $20.) All proceeds go to support charities and works in support of Cochrane Youth. Limit 72 players.   • CONSOLING THE HEART OF JESUS by Fr. Mike Gaitley, MIC for 10 Tuesday evenings, Sept.19 – Nov. 21. Join us for a 10 week small-group retreat that delves into the simplicity and grandeur of Consoling Spirituality, at Our Lady Of Fatima Church, 4747 30 Ave S.E., Calgary.   • The SACRED GARDEN and SURROUNDING LANDSCAPE needs your “Holy Hands” to help in their care. If you can give some of your time, as little as 1 hour monthly, we would like to have you and your family join us. Activities are as light as raking the path up to weeding and mowing the lawn.   • COCHRANE COMMUNITY PICNIC: Hosted by the Immigrant Services Committee - Sunday, August 27, noon to 4pm at the Cochrane Ranche. Come out, meet your neighbours, and celebrate the cultural diversity we have in Cochrane. In addition there is going to be a citizenship ceremony put on by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. 25 new Canadians will take their oath that day!

  • COCHRANE & WESTERN ROCKY VIEW FALL FOOD DRIVE: Saturday, September 16, 10:00 am, Spray Lakes Sawmills Family Sports Centre, Cochrane, AB Volunteers needed and much appreciated!

  • FREE FAMILY CELEBRATION WITH BISHOP MCGRATTAN at Divine Mercy Centre, Balzac on Saturday, Sept 2. Rosary at 11:30 am. Holy Mass at 12:00 pm. Mass will be followed by lunch and International Show.   • The RITE of CHRISTIAN INITIATION for ADULTS and CHILDREN continues to meet throughout the summer (Thursdays 7:15 - 8:45 pm) pm). Are you an adult who wonders what Catholics do what they do, and would like to learn about our Church? Do you have children, 7 years and older who have not bee baptized?   • HARVEST MOON GALA ... SAVE THE DATE! St. Mary's Church is holding our 10th Annual Fund Raising event November 4th, 2017 at 6:30 pm. Proceeds will go towards the continued funding of our Church. Since its inception, this fundraising effort has raised over $330,000 in donations which have helped to build and outfit our church kitchen, and reduce our outstanding mortgage. We are once again seeking your support for this year's event which includes dinner, prizes, entertainment,and silent and live auctions. We are hoping that you may be able to provide one or more of the following:
    • Silent Auction Item
    • Live Auction Item
    • Gift Certificates
    • Door Prize
    • Cash donation towards the purchase of a larger auction item
    • Supply goods or services required in preparation of the event (Please, new merchandise only).

  • STRESS IN YOUR MARRIAGE?Retrouvaille is a program for married couples who experience conflict, boredom, disillusionment or frustration. You can learn to use the communication tools they teach by registering for the program starting on September 8-10, 2017.   • ADDITIONAL SUNDAY MASS coming THIS FALL! Beginning on Sunday, September 10th, our Parish Pastoral Council has decided that we will be ADDING a Mass at 8:30 am in the Christ the King Day Chapel. This Mass will be open to all Parishioners, especially our young families. There will be lots of stroller parking!

  • ST. MARY’S PASTORAL CARE TEAM is eager to visit the lonely, shut-ins, aging, sick, dying and bereaved. If you would like a visit from our team or to arrange a meeting with them, please call Jim Ward (403-981-8882) or e-mail him at and Jim will arrange it.

  • PRAYER CHAIN:This ministry consists of a group of people who say a special prayer of their choice each day for the prayer chain intentions and especially at the time that they receive a new request. Each new intention is emailed out to the group as I get them. We currently have 64 ‘prayers’ but there’s always room for many more. If you wish to be added to our list of ‘prayers’ or if you just want to put a prayer request onto the prayer chain, please contact Linda Nicol at
